My Review:
How do you write a review of a book as remarkable as ‘A Little Life’? No words could ever describe the depth of emotion this book made me feel. Or the love I have for Willem, Malcolm et al. And Jude. Oh the wonderful, beautiful, damaged, unforgettable Jude. My heart broke so many times whilst reading this book, but it also made my heart sing, with so many beautiful moments of friendship and love that were scattered throughout.
As harrowing and heartbreaking as ‘A Little Life’ is, it shows the reality of the many ups and downs that are our lives. The good, the bad and the ugly. The happy (and there were so many happy moments), the sad, the heartbreak and the despair. It is a book unlike any other I’ve ever read and is one that I will never forget.
It is a beautifully written story, with love and friendship at its heart. It is emotionally devastating, with the characters becoming so real to us that we cannot bear to say goodbye. And as harrowing, heartbreaking and moving a read as it is at times, ‘A Little Life’ is a book I would not hesitate to recommend.
Read it, absorb it, feel it.
A simply unforgettable 5 stars.
