Today is my stop on the blog tour for fabulous psychological thriller The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall. Thanks to Noelle Holten and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. I’m delighted to share my review with you today!

About the book:

‘I’m your husband, Chloe. We’re a partnership now and we do what’s best for us as a couple.’

Chloe finally feels like she’s got her life together. After a difficult childhood and losing both parents, she worked hard for the life she loves in lively Brighton, helping people as a physiotherapist. And then she meets the perfect man.

It’s a whirlwind romance, but Dan is handsome, funny, and simply the kindest man she’s ever met. When she sees him standing by the altar, tears glistening in his eyes, she knows this will be for always.

As they sunbathe on their honeymoon island, laughing over drinks, planning their future with their feet in the sand, Dan jokes that he’d like them to stay there forever.

At first, Chloe couldn’t agree more. It’s tempting to imagine truly leaving her troubled past behind. But as the honeymoon goes on, he becomes increasingly adamant. They shouldn’t leave. In fact, he won’t let her…

My Review:

The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall is a gripping page turner of a psychological thriller that’s full of twists and turns throughout.  It drew me in from the very first page and kept me guessing right up until the final page had been turned.

After a whirlwind romance Chloe believes she has met and married the man of her dreams. Dan is everything she ever wanted in a man: handsome, funny and the kindest person she has ever known. Now on their honeymoon, Dan jokes that he’d like them to stay there forever. At first Chloe can think of nothing better, but then as Dan becomes more and more adamant that they should never leave, she begins to wonder if everything is quite as perfect as it seems. Does she really know this man she has just married? Or has she stepped off a precipice into unknown danger?

What follows is a brilliantly plotted and fast paced thriller that throws in surprises every step of the way. I didn’t always understand or agree with the choices Chloe made, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of this story at all. Escapism at its very best, this is a book to be read in as few sittings as possible. Once started I found it very difficult to put down, the story taking me on a rollercoaster ride of a journey that didn’t slow down until it reached its final shocking conclusion.

Rona Halsall has written a gripping psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. The perfect book to take with you on your summer holiday and one I would recommend.
