Guillaume Musso was the number one bestselling author in France in 2011 and 2012. Born in 1974 on the Cote d’Azur, he knew from an early age that he wanted to write novels and to touch the largest possible number of people.

In 2004, ‘AFTERWARDS’ was published in France by XO Editions and was an immediate bestseller and established a loyal following for his unique brand of storytelling which blends romance, adventure, suspense and the supernatural. It was later made into a film starring John Malkovich, Evangeline Lily and Romain Duris.

Since then, with every one of the six novels which have followed, his loyal readership has grown significantly, making him the most widely-read author writing in French today. His stories have universal central themes: missed opportunities, second chances, the passage of time, lost love and redemption.

Cop drama’WHERE WOULD I BE WITHOUT YOU?’ and romantic thriller ‘THE GIRL ON PAPER’ is now available for the first time in English published by Gallic.

My Review:

The Reunion by acclaimed French author Guillaume Musso is a stylish, suspense filled thriller that keeps you on your toes throughout. Brilliantly translated by Frank Wynne, it takes you on a thrilling journey of love, loss, murder and revenge. With many twists and turns along the way, every time I thought I’d finally worked out the truth it hit me with another curveball that sent the story spiralling into yet another completely unexpected direction.

Thomas, Maxime and Fanny have not spoken in 25 years. Not since Vinca Rockwell, one of their best friends, ran away with Alexis, who was her philosophy teacher. Now they’ve received an invitation to their school reunion and know they have no choice but to return for one final time – because they know that there is a body buried in the school. And the reason they know: is because they’re the ones that put it there.

But what really happened that fateful December night 25 years ago? Where did Vinca go the night she disappeared? And why hasn’t she been seen since?

What follows is a gripping thriller, set against the backdrop of the stunning French Riviera. The Reunion is a book filled with intrigue and suspense, that once started you do not want to put down until the final page has been turned. It kept me enthralled from beginning to end, as the pieces of the puzzle finally began to fall into place and the shocking truth of what really happened that night was horrifyingly revealed.

This is a tightly plotted thriller, with fleshed out, intriguing characters who you quickly came to care about. The Cote D’Azor is brought vividly to life, and is the perfect setting for a stylish thriller that slowly gives up its secrets as Thomas gradually begins to uncover the truth.

Guillaume Musso has written a spectacular page turner of a thriller that will keep you guessing throughout. It was the first of his books that I’d read, but it definitely won’t be the last. I hope all of Guillaume’s books will eventually be translated into English, as I’d love nothing more than to read them all!

Highly recommended.
