Criminal Actions is the 5th installment of M.A. Comley’s Hero series, but could easily be read as a standalone. Although why you would want to, with a series as fabulous as this one is, I don’t know! It’s a fast paced and thrilling read that gently drew me into the story at first… and then bam! It grabbed me by the throat and kept me reading long into the night until the final, shocking page had been turned. Once started, there was no way I was going to put this nail biting book down until all its secrets had been revealed!
Jacinda Meredith has followed her boyfriend all the way from Scotland, soon finding her dream job working as a nanny for Sadie and Leonard Knox. However, it soon becomes apparent that all is not as it seems…
DI Hero Nelson is called to the scene of a shocking murder, which turns out to be both horrifying and perplexing. But before long more bodies are discovered that lead him to believe he may have yet another serial killer on his hands. Is there more to this case than meets the eye? And can he apprehend the murderer before he or she strikes again?
What follows is an exhilarating thriller that never slows down, keeping you on your toes from beginning to end. Criminal Actions is a brilliantly written, dark and twisted novel that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster of a journey as you slowly begin to understand exactly what it is that’s going on behind closed doors. I don’t want to say too much as I don’t want to spoil anything, but suffice to say this is a disturbing and shocking read that went in a direction I would never have expected it to when I started it.
This is an author who excels at her craft and I enjoyed every dark and disturbing moment of this book. I hope there are many more installments in this series to come as we get to know more about DI Hero Nelson with each one. He’s a fascinating character and I can’t wait to see what direction M.A. Comley will take him in next.
