But a series of events will shake the strong self-belief Mae has always had in herself and will leave her questioning where it is she really fits in.

My Review:
Oh, what a lovely, warm and uplifting book this is! Written by inspirational winner of The Great British Bake Off Nadiya Hussain (with Ayisha Malik), The Hopes and Triumphs of the Amir Sisters is a charming book about life, love and family. The perfect book to unwind with at the end of a long day, this is a book that will leave you with a feeling of warmth and happiness as you turn the final page.
A gentle and easy read, but one that packs a punch nevertheless, I enjoyed every word of this lovely little gem of a book. It tells the story of nineteen year old Mae, who is finally ready to spread her wings and leave the warm bosom of her family. But the path to independence does not run smoothly, leading to a series of events that will shake her confidence and leave her questioning exactly where she fits into the world.
Back home with her family, Mae struggles to fit back into her old life. Her sisters try their best to help Mae along her own path of self discovery, but ultimately it will have to be Mae herself who decides the path in life that’s best for her.
The Hopes and Triumphs of the Amir Sisters is a beautifully written coming of age tale that explores themes of life, love, family, awakening sexuality and faith. It is full of the warmth and humour you would expect from Nadiya Hussain and is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed.
