My Review:
What a fantastic, gripping and fast paced read Little Friends by Jane Shemilt is! A superbly written, complex and tightly plotted thriller that captured my imagination from the very first page, this is a novel that completely blew me away.
It’s difficult to write a review that will do this wonderful book justice without giving too much away, but I’ll try my best!
Told from multiple points of view, Little Friends is a tense psychological thriller that kept me enthralled from beginning to end. With characters who are not always easy to like, this is a thrilling tale that takes you on an exhilarating and dark rollercoaster ride of secrets and lies. This is a book that leaves you breathless and unsettled as the story unfolds, with the narrative mostly being told by the alternate voices of Eve, Melissa and Grace, whose children are at the heart of the story.
As the dark, brutal and shocking story gradually unfolded I found myself holding my breath, chilled to the bone by what I was reading. Jane Shemilt has written a book so compelling I flew through the pages, not wanting to put it down until the final, gut wrenching page had been turned. Tackling some difficult subjects, Little Friends is a moving, thrilling and devastatingly brilliant tale that will stay with me for a long time to come.
A chilling, dark and shocking read that I would highly recommend.
