My Review:

Before I Say I Do by Vicki Bradley is a fast paced, suspense filled and gripping thriller that had me on the edge of my seat. With twists, turns, shocks and surprises throughout, this is a book that kept me guessing, not knowing which direction this superb book was going to take me in next. And I loved every word of it!

Julia Talbot is about to get married to the man she loves. But there’s a lot about her past that her husband to be knows nothing about – and Julia is determined to keep it that way. And now here she is on her wedding day, about to take her first steps into a new life with Mark. But fate is about to deal her yet another devastating blow. Mark is missing. And Julia’s past is about to catch up with her in a way she could never have imagined…

DC Alana Loxton and DC Dominik Kowalski have a wonderful rapport and their fledgling partnership was an aspect of the story I thoroughly enjoyed. Alana has recently been demoted from her job in MIT, so wants to prove her worth in her new position at Southwark CID. But something about this case doesn’t feel right and Alana is determined to get to the bottom of it, no matter how far she has to go to uncover the truth.

I love a book that keeps me on my toes and Before I Say I Do did just that with aplomb! A missing bridegroom, a bride who has a long hidden secret past, mixed together with a DC in charge of the case who has a point to prove, all add up to a gripping psychological thriller that had me hooked from the very first page. With the story moving back and forth between the present and the past, the sense of foreboding is palpable, with the tension ratcheting up to breaking point as the shocking events from Julia’s past slowly begin to emerge.

Vicki Bradley has a background in police work and I felt this came through in her writing, adding to the authenticity of the complex and layered plot, making the story even more compelling as the pieces of the puzzle slowly came together. Before I Say I Do is a superb and exhilarating rollercoaster of a read that left me breathless as it came to a thrilling but satisfying conclusion.

Highly recommended.
