I’m delighted to welcome you today to my stop on the blog tour for psychological thriller The One That Got Away by Egan Hughes. Thank you to Tracy Fenton and Sphere for giving me the opportunity to read and review this fab book.
About the book:
You love him. You trust him.
YOU CAN’T ESCAPE HIM.
Mia thinks she has escaped her controlling ex-husband, Rob. She’s found herself a new home, a new boyfriend and a new life.
But when the police arrive to tell her that Rob has been found dead on his boat, things quickly fall apart. Mia is terrified she’ll be suspected, however the police are keeping all options open. They know Mia had reason to hate her ex-husband, but she’s not the only one. Plenty of people wanted Rob Creavy dead, not least his new wife, Rachel.
What they don’t know is that Mia has a secret, one she’s desperate to protect.
But someone else knows. Someone with very dark secrets of their own . . .

My Review:
The One That Got Away by Egan Hughes is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you guessing throughout. With twists, turns and plenty of surprises along the way, this is a book I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
Mia thinks she has finally escaped the clutches of her controlling ex-husband, Rob. She’s made a new life for herself, complete with a new boyfriend and a new home. But when Rob is found dead on his boat, things quickly fall apart as Mia knows she is likely to be a suspect in his murder. But Mia is far from the only one who had reason to want Rob dead…including his new wife, Rachel. However, Mia has a secret. One she is desperate to protect at any cost.
Mia tries her best to stay below the radar, but when Rachel reaches out for support she finds herself drawn back into a life she thought she had left far behind. As secrets are uncovered and the truth slowly revealed, the story moves along at a cracking pace, leading to a final, shocking denouement that I did not see coming.
The One That Got Away is an engrossing page turner of a psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed, throwing in curveballs along the way that really did take me by surprise. Egan Hughes has written a compelling debut novel that drew me in from the very first page and didn’t let go until the final page had been turned. A fabulous read that I would recommend.
