I’m beyond thrilled to welcome you today to my stop on the blog tour for the gloriously uplifting Coming Home To Brightwater Bay by Holly Hepburn. Thank you to Anne Cater and Simon & Schuster for giving me the opportunity to read and review this fantastic new book.
About the book:
On paper, Merina Wilde has it all: a successful career writing the kind of romantic novels that make even the hardest hearts swoon, a perfect carousel of book launches and parties to keep her social life buzzing, and a childhood sweetheart who thinks she’s a goddess.
But Merry has a secret: the magic has stopped flowing from her fingers. Try as she might, she can’t summon up the sparkle that makes her stories shine. And as her deadline whooshes by, her personal life falls apart too. Alex tells her he wants something other than the future she’d always imagined for them and Merry finds herself single for the first time since – well, ever.
Desperate to get her life back on track, Merry leaves London and escapes to the windswept Orkney Islands, locking herself away in a secluded clifftop cottage to try to heal her heart and rediscover her passion for writing. But can the beauty of the islands and the kindness of strangers help Merry to fool herself into believing in love again, if only long enough to finish her book? Or is it time for her to give up the career she’s always adored and find something new to set her soul alight?

My Review:
Oh my goodness, what a wonderful, uplifting read this is! After my last few seriously dark, often disturbing reads, Coming Home To Brightwater Bay was exactly the tonic I needed. This brand new series from Holly Hepburn is the perfect antidote to these dark and difficult times we find ourselves in, bringing some much needed sunshine into what already seems to have been a long and never ending winter.
I was drawn to Merry from the moment she was introduced. A best selling author with writer’s block, the book begins with her being unceremoniously dumped by her long time partner and childhood sweetheart, Alex. Desperate to get her life back on track, Merry leaves London for the windswept seclusion of the Orkney Islands, taking the opportunity to become a writer in residence for six months.
As soon as she arrives in Brightwater Bay and moves into the secluded cottage that is to be her new home, Merry can’t help but fall in love with the beautiful scenery and the warm but eccentric community. With a cast of colourful characters, including a Clark Kent lookalike librarian and a hunky Viking, Coming Home To Brightwater Bay is pure escapism at its very best. Full of warm humour and romance, it is a book that will sweep you away on a journey you will not want to end.
Holly Hepburn has written the perfect story to curl up with as the snow gently falls outside, instantly transporting you to the beautiful, windswept Orkney Islands. I loved every word of this gloriously uplifting story, which left me with a huge smile on my face and a warm glow in my heart as I turned the final page. A simply delightful read that I would highly recommend.
Pure perfection!
