#BlogTour – #BookReview of #CallOfThePenguins by Hazel Prior @HazelPriorBooks @TransworldBooks @RandomTTours #RandomThingsTours

I’m delighted to welcome you today to my stop on the blog tour for the simply gorgeous Call of the Penguins by Hazel Prior. Thank you to Anne Cater and Transworld Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book.

About the book:

Hazel Prior’s novels always make me smile. Call of the Penguins is the perfect fireside read, and Veronica McCreedy will capture your heart.’

TRISHA ASHLEY, Sunday Times bestselling author of The Christmas Invitation and The Garden of Forgotten Wishes

Call of the Penguins sparkles with wit, courage and kindness. This is a heart-warming journey into the highs and lows of human nature. I loved it!’

Celia Anderson, author of 59 Memory Lane

Fiercely resilient, singular, always well turned out, Veronica McCreedy has lived an incredible 87 years. Most of them alone, in her huge house by the sea. Veronica has recently discovered a late-life love for family and friendship, adventure and wildlife. More specifically, she has found a love for penguins!

When she’s invited to co-present a wildlife documentary, far away in the southern hemisphere, she jumps at the chance. Even though this new adventure it will put her in the spotlight, just when she thought she would soon fade into the wings.  Veronica might just be about to find out that perhaps it’s never too late to shine?

About the author:

HAZEL PRIOR lives on Exmoor with her husband and a huge ginger cat. As well as writing, she works as a freelance harpist. Hazel is the author of Ellie and the Harp-Maker and Away with the Penguins, which was a #1 bestseller in ebook and audiobook. Call of the Penguins is her third novel.

My Review:

Call of the Penguins is the heartwarming sequel to Away with the Penguins by Hazel Prior. Every bit as wonderful as the previous book, Call of the Penguins takes us back to the world of the captivating Veronica McCreedy as she embarks on yet another adventure that will steal your heart away. Paired with nine year old Daisy, who is going through something no child should ever have to go through, eighty seven year old Veronica is as charming and unpredictable as ever.

Fiercely independent, Veronica, with the support of her right hand woman Eileen, isn’t planning on slowing down any time soon. So when the opportunity arises to co-present a wildlife documentary in the southern hemisphere, she jumps at the chance. Call of the Penguins is perhaps even more gorgeously entertaining than Away with the Penguins and I loved every beautiful, heartwarming word of it.

Veronica is a brilliant character and I didn’t want this story to ever end. Her relationship with young Daisy is a joy to behold and I have no doubt it could melt even the hardest of hearts. Hazel Prior is a born storyteller and I can’t wait to read whatever this talented author comes up with next!

I can’t even begin to say how much I adored this book. It is so beautifully written, making you laugh out loud one moment and then moving you to tears the next. I could honestly stay in this world forever, it feels like a lovely warm, gentle hug and is the perfect book to curl up with as the nights draw in and the days grow colder.

What more can I say? Highly recommended by me.

Simply fabulous!
