For my second post of the day I’m excited to welcome you to my stop on the blog tour for outstanding thriller The Quiet People by Paul Cleave. Thank you to Anne Cater and Orenda Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this incredible book.

My Review:
The Quiet People by Paul Cleave is one of those books that’s so intense I constantly find myself holding my breath, terrified of what’s going to happen next. Fast paced and original, this is a book that grips you from the very first page and doesn’t let go until the final, exhilarating page has been turned. With twists, turns, shocks and surprises that just keep on coming, it is a high octane thriller that makes your heart pound and renders you speechless. And I loved every single word of it!
Cameron and Lisa Murdoch are happily married and successful New Zealand crime writers. Authors at the top of their game, they’ve boasted for years that there isn’t anyone who knows how to get away with committing a crime like they do. After all, this is what they write about every day, so it stands to reason that they would know how to carry out the perfect crime, doesn’t it?
So when their challenging seven year old son, Zach, disappears the couple find themselves instantly under suspicion, with both the police and the public wondering if they’ve finally decided to prove that they can, in fact, do what they’ve always said is possible. Are they responsible for the disappearance of their own son?
What follows is a dark and intense thriller that really does leave you breathless. Mainly told from the point of view of Cameron, The Quiet People keeps you guessing throughout. Who is telling the truth? Is it the Murdoch’s themselves or do the press have it right and the couple are, indeed, the perpetrators? That is the question that was at the forefront of my mind as I was reading, never quite knowing who to believe as the seeds of doubt are planted. The story twists and turns this way and that, throwing up surprises that make me believe one thing one moment and then taking a totally unexpected turn the next.
Paul Cleave is an exceptional writer who has written an intricately plotted and original story that kept me riveted throughout. I don’t want to say too much for fear of spoiling the plot, so all I will say is wow, what an absolutely stunning read this is! An intense and exhilarating rollercoaster of a story that really does keep you on the edge of your seat, The Quiet People is a brilliant page turner of a thriller that I would highly recommend.
Simply superb!
