I’m excited to welcome you today to my stop on the blog tour for stunning psychological thriller Quicksand of Memory by Michael J Malone. Thank you to Anne Cater and Orenda Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this dark and chilling book.

About the book:

Jenna is trying to rebuild her life after a series of disastrous relationships.

Luke is struggling to provide a safe, loving home for his deceased partner’s young son, following a devastating tragedy.

When Jenna and Luke meet and fall in love, they are certain they can achieve the stability and happiness they both desperately need.

And yet, someone is watching.

Someone who has been scarred by past events.

Someone who will stop at nothing to get revenge.

Dark, unsettling and immensely moving, Quicksand of Memory is a chilling reminder that we are not only punished for our sins, but by them, and that memories left to blacken and sharpen over time are the perfect breeding ground for obsession, and murder…

My Review:

Quicksand of Memory by Michael J Malone is a dark and disturbing psychological thriller that is as moving as it is bone chilling. Brilliantly written, it is a fast paced and compelling story with plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing throughout.

Quicksand of Memory is a complex tale of loss, family, past mistakes and revenge. Very much a character driven story, it centres around Luke and Jenna, two people damaged by the past who find themselves drawn to one another as they begin to rebuild the pieces of their shattered lives. Luke is struggling to provide a safe, loving home for his stepson after the devastating loss of the boy’s mother and Jenna is trying to start again after a string of damaging and disastrous relationships. So when they meet and fall in love, they are hopeful that they can finally put the horrors of the past firmly behind them.

But someone is watching them. Someone who has been deeply scarred by the events of the past and will stop at nothing to get their revenge, no matter who may get hurt in the process…

Michael J Malone’s writing has a tense but poetical quality to it that has the ability not only to shock but also to move and surprise you. I don’t want to go into too much detail for fear of spoilers but make no mistake, this is a dark and disturbing read that is so deliciously creepy at times that it made me shiver with the intensity of it. A devastatingly moving, chilling and heartbreaking tale that really does go deep inside the quicksand of memory, this is a multilayered and shocking psychological thriller that is as believable as it is horrifying.

I love Michael J Malone’s writing. Quicksand of Memory is a stunning and thought provoking read, with characters that stay with you long after the final page has been turned. A taut and multilayered thriller, this is a book that captured my imagination and refused to let go, the story moving along at a cracking pace as it raced towards its final shocking conclusion.

A powerful, tense and bone chilling book that I would highly recommend, Quicksand of Memory is an incredible read that really did take my breath away. I honestly can’t praise Michael J Malone’s writing highly enough and can’t wait to see what this hugely talented author comes up with next.
