For my second post of the day I’m delighted to welcome you to my stop on the blog tour for heartwarming summer read Last Time We Met by Emily Houghton. Thank you to Anne Cater and Transworld Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this warm and moving book.
About the book:

ONE PROMISE
Aged thirteen, best friends Eleanor and Fin are inseparable. Convinced it will always be this way they make a pact – to go to university together, always live near each other, and if they’re both single at 35 they’ll get married.
TWO DECADES
Eleanor and Fin haven’t spoken in fifteen years. Life has run away from them and they’re both far from where they’d dreamt of being all those years ago.
CAN THEY STILL KEEP THEIR WORD?
It takes tragic circumstances for Fin to come back into Eleanor’s life, but everything has changed since the last time they met. Is it too late to mend their friendship? Or is there a chance they can keep some of the promises they made?
Available in ebook now. The paperback will be published on Thursday 4th August.
About the author:

EMILY HOUGHTON is the author of Before I Saw You. She is an Essex girl at heart, but now spends most of her time between London and Suffolk. Emily worked in digital product management at Tesco and Barclays for seven years, and it was during a sabbatical from work, travelling around India, that her first book was born; the first draft is still written on her phone!
After a whirlwind few months, Emily quit her corporate job to live her dream of writing full-time. A true Gemini at heart, she’s got many interests and is a trained spin and yoga teacher. She has a curiosity for life and a passion for all things well-being, one day hoping to create her own retreat space with a lot of dogs! Her writing, while centering around love stories, often touches on deeper emotional themes such as self-love, healing and the power of finding yourself.
Emily says: “Last Time We Met is a story of love, loss and enduring friendship. How sometimes the things that aren’t said are the words we need to hear the most; and how forgiving others is nowhere near as important as forgiving ourselves.”
My Review:
Last Tine We Met by Emily Houghton is the heartwarming and poignant story of Eleanor and Fin. The perfect book to escape with this summer, it is a tale of love, loss and friendship, with a cast of characters who you can’t help but fall in love with.
As teenagers, Eleanor and Fin were inseparable. Convinced they would always be friends, they made a pact to always live close to each other, attend university together and, if they’re both still single at 35, to get married. But life had other plans and now the once inseparable friends haven’t spoken for 15 years. And then fate takes a tragic turn and brings Fin back into Eleanor’s life. But everything has changed and they’re no longer the close friends they used to be. Is it too late to repair the friendship they once had? Or are the promises they made all those years ago far beyond their reach?
Told in alternating chapters by Eleanor and Fin, the story goes backwards and forwards in time, spanning the time from when they were close friends as teenagers through to the present day and the situation they find themselves in now. Last Time We Met is a beautifully written, heartwarming book that is filled to the brim with wonderful characters and a story that’s as lighthearted and warm as it is moving and poignant. As with Emily Houghton’s debut novel Before I Saw You, which I adored, this is a story that never gets too bogged down by sentimentality, but has a depth to it that turns it into so much more than only a light and fluffy romantic read.
Emily Houghton has written yet another gorgeous summer read that captivated me from beginning to end. A book that made me laugh and made me cry, with warm and memorable characters who stole my heart, Last Time We Met is a beautifully written story that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. I loved it!
